BELARUS – We don’t have any official confirmation of how Belarusian jury aggregated vote was given (after the EBU sacked the jury)but the theory spread on the web could cause a future mess if multiple jury incidents occur.
According to the latest rumour which truly has many grounds to believe, says that EBU accumulated the average of the four countries from the same pot Belarus was drawn in the semi finals allocation: Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The average scores of those juries would have give 12 points to Malta, 10 points to North Macedonia, 8 points to Cyprus, 7 points to Italy, 6 points to The Netherlands, 5 points to Azerbaijan, 3 points to Switzerland, 2 points to Sweden and 1 point to Russia.
This voting would have given North Macedonia the win of the jury voting.
instead the EBU (according to the theory) gave the bottom top ten as aggregated (something which truly coincides with what we sa on screens and therefore makes the theory believable).
12 points were given to the 26th ranked by the average voting of those four countries, Israel, 10 points Estonia which ranked 25th in the 4 countries average ranking and so on (we all know how the voting went on)
A few hours before the big Eurovision final in Israel, the show was hit by a scandal. The entire jury from Belarus was disqualified because the five jury members had revealed in an interview how they voted in the semi-finals.
And so it had consequences for the jury, informs Eurovision’s press department for the medium Eurovoix, and instead the organizer decided who should have the Belarussian votes.
“In order to comply with Eurovision’s voting regulations, the EBU has dismissed the Belarussian jury from the final. An estimated result approved by the auditors will be used to determine who will be assigned the Belarussian points, says the official statement.”
But what it actually covers is a bit of a mystery to everyone other than the EBU. The fact is, in the final, a Belarus representative appeared on the screen and made some unusual voices, including 12 points that are the highest possible, to the host country Israel. By the way, it was the only jury points that Israel got in the final at all.
