SPAIN – Rosario Mohedano, commonly known as Chayo Mohedano is a singer and television personality who was often seen on Spanish television, as her auntie was a famous Spanish singer, Rocío Jurado, with whom she colaborated as a child on a number of albums.
Her time has mostly been spent on television, on the Spanish private media channels Telecinco and Antena 3, as well as the autonomous Andalucian channel Canal Sur, which has many programmes focussed on singing and discovering new talent.
She has been a member of Jury panels for talent contests and is best known for her work within those shows than for her actual music although she is looking for this to change. In a recent interview, Rosario stated that she wouldn’t take part in Eurovision, having been offered the opportunity by RTVE in 1999 but nothing came of it.
She has recently released a new album, given that she has had moderate success with previous albums but is hopeful that now she is heading more towards a musical career, rather than a television based career.
In 1999, she was approached by RTVE but the offer was made when she was not such a familiar face and it would have been a good opportunity to make herself known to the public at large, however it never actually happened, as RTVE decided to go with another option.
