🇬🇪 Sofia Nizharadze and Nodi Tatishvili win awards

GEORGIA – Sofia Nizharadze and Nodi Tatishvili, Georgian entrants in the 2010 and 2013 Eurovision Song Contest editions respectively won awards at the annual Golden Wave ceremony organised by Radio Holding Fortuna. In the Republic of Georgia performing at Eurovision can change your career forever and turn you into a treasured national icon. The latest Eurostars to prove the point are Sofia Nizharadze and Nodi Tatishvili, who recently walked away with the country’s coveted “Golden Wave” Awards for best female and male singers of the year. Judging from Instagram, they’re pretty excited, as you can see in this snap of Sofia claiming her trophy and smiling from ear-to-ear.

Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Sofia started singing before she started talking. Her mother who was a big push to her in her singing career. Sofia graduated with honors from the Musical Academy under the Tbilisi State Conservatory where she studied piano and vocals. She later continued her studies at the Academy of Theatre and Arts in Russia (GITIS) and graduated with honors from the GNESINY Academy of Music in Moscow. Through her singing she has brought an international attention to Georgia.

Nodi was six years old when he made his first appearance in the Tbilisi Great Concert Hall. He was a soloist of children ensemble. At the age of eight, he won the national contest and already at age nine singing with the ensemble Iveria in the musical Two Dwarfs. During the “mutation period” Nodiko took a part in the television project “School of Nutsa” and after that many popular composers and musicians.

In the periods from 2005 to 2009, Nodiko has participated in many prestigious music festivals and projects, but in 2009 he was featured in the popular Georgian TV show Geostar, where he won and became GEOSTAR 2009 (pop idol 2009). He and Sopho Gelovani represented Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden.[1] In the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria, he and Sophie Gelovani were two of the five members of the Georgian jury.
