GREECE – More than 50 confirmed dead, lots of people missing inland and in the sea, more than 680 houses burned, hundreds of cars completely burned and acres of amazing green forest vanished. This is so far thee outcome of the unforeseen catastrophe which plundered East region of Attica (Athens).
Since the fire emerged cut off thee exit of the costal side by burning the national road therefore people headed to the nearest beach side where anyway lots of people where already there for their summer baths. But the wind turned nasty and towards the beach.
Due to the smoke and the free reaching the beaches, people started swimming in the open sea in late afternoon and all night causing lots of injuries, deaths and missing people.
The port of Rafina was also surrounded by fire, all road exits from east Attica to Athens where one fire and people got trapped. power cut off the ability of electric pumps to automatically work and water supplies couldn’t stop the fire.

A host of countries have offered help to help to fight the forest fires raging in Greece. The United States are “full engaged in support” of Greece following the devastating fires in Attica, US Ambassador in Athens Geoffrey Pyatt said at a meeting with Defence Minister Panos Kammenos on Tuesday.
In a message of condolence sent to Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that “in these difficult hours Germany stands firmly by the side of our Greek friends.” She added: “You can be sure of our willingness to provide support in coping with the fire disaster.”
Italy is offering two Canadair aircraft to help Greece battle wildfires that have killed dozens of people near Athens. Premier Giuseppe Conte on Tuesday tweeted Italy’s support for Greece and condolences for those who have died. He announced Italy was making the two water-dropping aircraft available.
Turkey has offered to send firefighting aircraft to neighboring Greece after twin wildfires tore through areas near Athens. Turkey’s foreign minister said Turkish airplanes and helicopters are on standby to aid Greece. Mevlut Cavusoglu said his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias thanked him for the offer but said assistance was not currently needed.
