ITALY – Italian national broadcaster announced the dates and the changes that will be implemented in the 2019 edition of Sanremo Festival, the historic event which was the base to create the Eurovision Song Contest back inn the 50s.
The 2019 edition of Sanremo Festival will have four night and will kick off on February 5th, concluding with the final night on February 9th.
Artistic director Claudio Baglioni seems to have seen the high TV rates and the commercial success of the 2018 Sanremo Festival edition and they are preparing changes in the newcomers category.
The change in that category is that the newcomers in 2019 will be chosen by the public and not by a professional jury. The announcement of the results will take place during two televised shows on December 13th and 14th, titled Sanremo Giovani.
Though we are still far away from having RAI’s confirmation that the country will participate in. the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with a song chosen by Sanremo Festival (something which is likely to happen but you never know).
