Five cities were in the run for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 but according to local press the city of Aalborg pull out as reported today as they don’t meet the requirements for an appropriate hosting. Originally two cities were in the run for the ESC 2014 hosting, with Herning to be the first bidding city followed by Copenhagen. Horsens, Fredericia are still in the run for the hosting.
According to estimations and betting odds Copenhagen is most likely to host the show as it can offer international airport, adequate hotel rooms and good arena, basic elements for hosting a Eurovision Song Contest. Aalborg Congress Chief, Ernst Trillingsgaard said that there are not enough double rooms according to DR’s demands (3,000 double rooms) as the city has ony 1,600 of them. Hotels would be 5-10 km away from the very center of the city. Availability also of those 1,600 double rooms is also in question as Aalborg host two events in the Eurovision period.
so based on the reports, we do keep believing that Eurovision Song Contest 2014 will be once again in Copenhagen!
