UNITED KINGDOM – With 7.8 million people tuning in last night, Strictly came out on top once again. As a result, it’s an excellent venue for artists hoping to get traction in the UK charts via streaming and sales. Not that “Beggin'” is a cause for concern for Måneskin; the song has already peaked at number six in the UK!
In the second episode of the popular BBC1 program, Adam Peaty and Katya Jones dance the Cha Cha from the Olympic pool to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom. The Italian winner Måneskin’s version of “Beggin'” takes center stage on the Strictly dance floor, once again uniting Eurovision in dance.
Those who saw the second edition of BBC1’s most well-known celebrity dance competition would have recognized a familiar song that played throughout the program. Adam Peaty and partner Katya Jones shocked the judges last night with a hip-shaking Cha Cha to Måneskin’s version of “Beggin’.”
Adam Peaty is a five-time Olympic medalist (including three golds). The band’s cover of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ “Sweet Caroline.”
Despite a hiccup in the middle of the night, the duo came in second place overall with 30 points. One of Great Britain’s most successful swimmers in history was given high marks by the judges for his ability to move just as effectively on the dance floor as he did in the pool.
As the results from this week and the next week are combined, the first round of elimination will take place next week. Strictly Come Dancing may be shown on BBC1 on Saturday evenings in the UK.
