CYPRUS – Besides the Orthodox Christian Communities reaction against the 2021 Eurovision entry of Cyprus, today 1981 and 1987 Eurovision entrant Alexia Vassiliou spoke against the national broadcaster and Elena Tsagrinou.
In a live session accompanied by a post, Alexia condemns CyBC for choosing a non-Cypriot to represent the island of Aphrodite in Eurovision 2021, wondering why so many Cypriots talents are excluded from the procedure.
Alexia also wonders why in such a difficult time for the musicians due to the pandemic crisis, national talents are not considered by CyBC for Eurovision 2021, urging the need to promote them as never before.
She calls CyBC to be ashamed of their choice for Rotterdam and the behind-closed-doors procedure. She demands the national broadcaster to pay attention to the country’s talents saying that CyBC holds the keys of their work and don’t give them to the right persons.
Alexia says that if CyBC cannot find a proper talent for Eurovision from within the country, they can ask talented Cypriot musicians to help them make a choice.
The singer says that because of CyBC actions, Cypriot musicians and artists are forced to go abroad and seek a career and urges Cypriot musicians and singers to come out and speak loud and protest in peace.
