POLAND – In a televised interview, Alicja Szemplinska, who would have represented Poland at Eurovision 2020, said she had already submitted her proposals on her country’s public television and was now awaiting the latter’s decision to find out if she would have the opportunity to represent Poland at Eurovision 2021 or whether a new representative will be sought for the next competition.
Alicja, as she revealed in her interview, wasted no time and all this time she was recording various candidate songs, which she sent to the Polish public television, in the hope that some of them would be liked by the people in charge of the competition.
Earlier, the artist had stressed that TVP would re-select her as the country’s representative in the competition, only if she has the right song.
However, local media say that it is unlikely that TVP will clarify its intentions for Eurovision 2021, before the completion of Junior Eurovision 2020, which will take place in Warsaw on November 29.
Alicja won the 2020 national final in Poland and would have performed the song EMPIRES in Rotterdam in the cancelled event of Eurovision 2020.
17-year-old Alicja Szemplińska was born and raised in Ciechanów, near Warsaw. She won The Voice of Poland 2019 and was loved by the audience for her voice and unique performances of songs we all know and love. “R&B and Soul have always been by my side. I grew up with this music and always enjoyed it the most.”
Alicja, like every teenager, has big dreams. She also dares to fulfil them. At the age of 14, after winning a TV music program, Alicja met with Michael Jackson’s vocal trainer, Seth Riggs, who helped her develop her voice.
In her spare time, Alicja fills her notebook with verses and rhymes with the hopes that they will see the light of the world very soon. She collaborated with Neve from the UK on her first single Almost We, which resulted in millions of views online.
