BEIRUT, LEBANON – In 2005, in Kiev, Lebanon was supposed to make its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest? Unfortunately the country had to withdraw has it did not intend to respect EBU rules, refusing to broadcast the Israeli entry. Aline Lahoud was the artist who was meant to become the first Lebanese entrant ever with the song “Quand Tout S’Enfuit”. Since then she’s been having a rather successful career in her homeland, but she has not given up the idea of going international. Indeed, she recently appeared on French television as a participant to the third season of « The Voice, La Plus Belle Voix » on TF1.
Last Saturday, she was auditioned during the third episode, singing one of her mother’s hits « Khedni Maak » (Take me with you). She was called the “revelation” of the show but the media as the 4 jurors enjoyed her performance and wanted her in their teams just after 30 seconds (a record). Aline eventually decided to join Florent Pagny’s team as he’s her idol. No need to mention that this season’s new member of the jury, British-Lebanese singer Mika was very disappointed by her decision.
Let’s remember that Aline isn’t the first Eurovision artist to participate to the French show. Last year, one of the finalists was Nuno Resende, the 2005 Belgian entrant. He was also a member of Pagny’s team, and finished in a brilliant third position.
