LUXEMBOURG – Anne Marie David, the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest winner sparkled a huge web fight with her recent visit to Northern Cyprus which is occupied by Turkey since 1974. Two days ago she was in Kyrenia, to receive an award for her career and she posted on Facebook that she is in the Turkish part of Cyprus, a phrase that the international law never recognised. It seems that for getting an award (which anyway she doesn’t need due to her historic career and discography) from Northern Cyprus and probably a free trip were worth more than realising that with that move she recognised a state that doesn’t exist. When Greek fans reacted to her move she responded with an attitude that she can post on her Facebook whatever she wants. Of course she can, after all she never experienced her country occupied and mourned dead relatives! Let’s not forget that due to ignorance Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé were also scheduled concerts in the occupied part of the island but when they were informed about the status of the area, they immediately cancelled their appearances respecting the international law, a law that exists for some reason, after all! For the record Ms David before making money and seeking publicity at the dawn of your career you better read some history first!
