SWEDEN Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Swedish state broadcaster SVT decided to cancel the usual Melodifestivalen 2021 tour, concentrating the six-show in a television studio without an audience.
After being predicted by the Swedish press, one of the contestants confirmed that the Annexet is the chosen place to host the Swedish national final.
Located in the Globen Arena complex in Stockholm, has a capacity for more than three thousand people, with support service for the organization of the Eurovision 2016.
This year the event will have no audience with the prospect to show virtual one as many international broadcasters did in their shows.
“SVT was looking for a place where a large stage could be built, as in Eurovision, and with easy access” newspapers reported, stressing that SVT’s initial plan was to hold the contest in an aircraft hangar in Arlanda, “the transportation of the material has become complicated, especially with the increase in the pandemic and restrictions”.
