ARMENIA – This year’s Armenian Eurovision entry peaked at number 26 in the UK, more than two months after the competition.
Rosa Linn’s Snap has appeared in over 360,000 TikTok videos, with some receiving millions of likes.
However, those data do not add to the chart; instead, people are turning to streaming services, which do contribute to the stats.
“Everything is insane, and it’s a dream come true,” the 22-year-old said to BBC News.
It’s this year’s competition’s second-highest charting song, behind only the United Kingdom’s Sam Ryder, who reached number two in May.
“On TikTok, you never know what will become viral,” Rosa Linn remarked. “I watched a video of a man proposing to his girlfriend, and it was incredible. My music is one of the most significant things in their life, and it strikes my heart very, very deeply.”
That engagement was between Ruairi McGivern, 26, and Annalivia Hynds, 24, from Armagh, and it has since received over 17 million views.
“We were heading out for dinner, and he couldn’t get the ring out without my noticing,” Hynds said to the BBC. “I was surfing through TikTok and the music came up on someone else’s video, and he said ‘make one with that song,’ so I did. The music was picked purely at random. It’s such a fantastic song and we’re going to have it at our wedding today,” Hynds remarked of this year’s Eurovision. We’ve had a flood of letters and comments, and it’s gone viral in nations where I can’t understand the comments in the languages.”
The song’s worldwide popularity has grown due to several variations.
“When we reached a million streams every day, I was like, ‘Oh My God,'” Linn recalled. “I check my Spotify stats every day, and I can’t believe how much they’ve grown. I’m from Vanadzor, Armenia, which you probably have no idea where it is on the globe, and I’m overjoyed. I used to fantasise about it as a kid.”
The song is charting in Latin America, the United States, and Africa.
“There was a possibility it might chart in Europe, but crossing across is fantastic,” Linn adds.
Snap placed 20th out of 25 in the grand final in Turin in May, collecting no points from the UK in either the public or jury voting.
“It was my first time on a huge platform, and it felt so natural.” Linn stated, “It felt like home.”
Rosa Linn said that she would “love to” represent Armenia the following year.
“I had a great time at Eurovision.” I was a fan before, but it’s beautiful when you experience it.”
