SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – After the shock (a positive one) of the announcement of Australia’s participation to the Jubilee contest, the very first question that came to our minds was: who will be sent by SBS? Let’s keep in mind that the Aussie participation will be a one shot (unless they win) and that after a three-year long lobbying campaign, Australia cannot afford a shameful result in Vienna. The broadcaster has several options.
They can decide to choose one of their local stars who already has international recognition. Kylie Minogue is the first name we can think about, and a petition is already online to encourage the pop diva to take the stage.
Other names which are mentioned are Tina Arena, Daren Hayes (Savage Garden), Sia… Those are already famous in Europe and could do very well for sure.
Just like they did last year with Jessica Mauboy, SBS could decide to send a local star that is yet to conquer the international stage. One of the names that are often mentioned is Dami Im. After her victory in “The X Factor 2013”, the Korea-born singer has been incredibly successful Down-Under. She has sold thousands of albums (three albums to date) and won several prestigious national and international awards. Moreover, she has already represented Australia in the ABU Song Festival 2014 in Macao.
Her biggest it was “Alive” that reached number 1 in Australia and number 28 in Korea!. In a recent tweet, the singer has referred to Eurovision, not ruling out a possible participation…
“I just wanted to tell you something. Recently so MANY of you have been asking and wanting me to be on Eurovision and I’ve noticed the enormous effort you were all making to push for that opportunity for me.. I don’t know who is going to represent Australia in Eurovision this year but for me it doesn’t matter anymore! You know why? Because seeing your belief and passion towards me as an artist has given me so much encouragement! It’s helped me to keep moving forward! Of course it would be amazing for whoever that gets to go, but for me no matter what happens I will keep developing as an artist. Sometimes as a normal human being I have my doubts too but realizing that I have people like you who support me no matter the outcome, I get up and start running again. I have an amazing song coming up soon and more exciting plans for this year.. and all I can say is thank you for trusting and showing me that continuous support and I will keep doing what God has blessed me with and make music for the rest of my life.. Thanks and love you all xx”
But anything is possible since SBS and Production Company Blink TV has decided to make an open call for potential entries. From February 16th to 20th. They have already announced on their Facebook page that in just 4 days they have been inundated with submissions from celebs as well as newcomers. No name was disclosed and an announced is expected in a week time.

For a song of 3 minutes LIVE, to represent Australia, in an International Competition, there is only ONE name that stands out DAMI IM. Proven as a competitor under pressure (11 standing ovations in 14 songs, through her X Factor Journey) The most powerful voice in Australia (X Factor 2013, Xmas Carols 2013 & 2014, StartKing) Plus the “Success Story” of Multiculturalism in Australia. Are facts that will be impossible to ignore.
