AUSTRIA – Originally demoed with another singer, HALO was given to PIA MARIA which proven to be not only talented but also Austrian for representing the country in Eurovision 2022.
DJ LUM!X succeed in something that a few songs can do in Eurovision: to become the ultimate dance song of the Eurovision season. No matter what the betting odds currently say, we have the feeling we will be surprised after their first rehearsals in Turin.
After all, DJ LUM!X, although he loves and watches the Eurovision Song Contest doesn’t need the platform to showcase his music after his tremendous success with Grabby Ponte and several other collaborations with famous musicians and DJs of the electro-pop music in the world.
Two things impressed me during my interview with the Austrian duo: One is that DJ LUM!X is an amazing kind and polite – humble person and two, the enthusiasm of PIA MARIA for Eurovision.
Their stage presentation might be a secret but the HALO performers promised me it will be epic.
We also had to discuss the Tel Aviv performance, for which PIA MARIA assured us it was all due to COVID-19 and now we are sure she will slay. But no matter what, in the very end, the health of PIA MARIA is more important than any performance and result.
ABOUT DJ LUM!X AND PIA MARIA
Austrian-Italian musician LUM!X, real name Luca Michlmayr, has become one of the hottest names in the global electronic music scene.
Luca mastered the guitar at an early age, but it wasnโt long before his attention turned to dance music.
In 2017, he teamed up with Italian hitmaker (and Halo co-writer) Gabry Ponte, best known as a member of electro icons Eiffel 65. The result was viral smash hit Monster; a chart-topper that has clocked up well over 200 million streams on Spotify alone.
LUM!X is joined by vocalist Pia Maria. As well as being a passionate singer and performer, with bags of musical theatre experience, Pia has also spent 3 years training in beauty and special effects makeup for the stage.
