Swedish Eurovision star Carola was supposed to perform with three songs during the interval act on Saturdays final according to Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet. Now reports says that Carolas act has become drastically shortened, in fact she will only appear in a few seconds during the final. “It will be more like a short swish, but in an elegant way, Carola says. I will be popping up as an “jack-in-the-box”. But it’s cool, – Takes the pressure off” the stars tells to Aftonbladet.
According to Aftonbladet the original plan for the Interval Act for the final was in fact to gather all former Swedish Eurovision winners on stage. But this failed when SVT realized that they would not be able to gather all the members of ABBA. The concept then changed to become a humoristic and ironic exposé about Sweden and how the Swedish people are. Carola will be one of the stars appearing just shortly in that act.
The Interval act and the script have earlier been criticized by popular Swedish comedian Magnus Betnér that leaked parts of the manuscript on his blog. He was asked of acting in the Interval act. But he declined the offer – accusing the concept and the script for being childish and of low quality. As he didn’t want to risk his career taking part in the Eurovision, therefore missing the opportunity to reach out to hundreds of millions of TV-viewers.
On Friday first Dress Rehersal will take place and we will be able to judge for the first time if the last Interval act will be better or worse than those we have seen during the semifinals.
