SPAIN – The manifestation of the Pride has unveiled its festive and reclaiming atmosphere in Barcelona one more year. In spite of the heat wave, 100,000 people according to the organization have left the streets this Saturday to celebrate sexual diversity and defend the rights of LGBT families, the protagonists of this Pride edition.
The march started at six in the afternoon in the gardens of the Three Chimneys and crossed the Avenida del Paral·lel to the stage installed in the Plaza de España, where the journalist Toni Cruanyes read a manifesto in defense of family diversity, which has emphasized that it is “an element of social cohesion”.
In an edition with more than 30 floats parading through the streets of Barcelona, the organizing entities have requested in a manifesto read by Cruanyes that “respect and value” is family diversity, as well as equal rights in the health field or in the The affiliation of the creatures of LGBTI partners regardless of their origin.
“They are family models that are equally valid in society,” said Cruanges. In this sense, the journalist has assured that it is “fundamental” to obtain legal protection for LGBTI couples, to ensure that they are “citizens with the right to exist” and also ensure the protection of children.
“Without civil rights we do not exist, the existence has no value,” he continued. Thus, Cruanges has claimed “persistent and no-fringe activism” that he considers LGBTI families to do daily, and has celebrated how these new family models “are reinventing the family” in their own way and “without barriers.”
The day , which according to the organization has had more than 400,000 participants in the activities prepared throughout the day, has concluded with a concert after the manifesto, by Inna, Vengaboys, Chenoa, Sharonne, Merche Mar, The Earthquake, Tamta and Karina. This year’s Pride coincided with the celebration of the 50-year Stonewall, the revolt in New York that began the LGBTI movement.
