BELARUS – Finally fan sites started reacting aiming to make an impact on vital things which surrounds our love for the Eurovision Song Contest. Based on the following EBU rules and endorsing the initiative of EUROVOIX.com followed by us at oikotimes and now by ESCXTRA.com we would like to state the following.
Rule 2.7 – Respect for ESC and EBU values
“No lyrics, speeches, gestures of a political, commercial or similar nature shall be permitted during the Eurovision Song Contest. No swearing or other unacceptable language shall be allowed in the lyrics or in the performances of the songs.”
DEMOCRACY ABOVE ALL
The Eurovision Song Contest keeps declaring that is appealing to everyone no matter gender, ideology, sexuality, religion etc. Every day developments and political suppression cannot be ignored. In order to enjoy an international event and endorsing artists and their music, we need to clarify that we are all in the same channel: the channel of democracy, quality and freedom, the channel of European values and humanism.
Belarus stopped for years now to serve those values, a road map for Europe, European Union and EBU itself.
We call EBU to disqualify Belarus from the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest focusing on the fascist representatives they “selected” in a non-transparent way, anyhow.
Therefore, from now on, the oikotimes team will not post anything regarding the Belarusian entry, delegation and broadcaster regarding the Eurovision Song Contest.
Too political for you? For anyone reacting to this statement (if any) we have one phrase for you: WE COULDN’T CARE LESS!
