Yesterday Belgium decided that Roberto Bellarosa will represent the country with the uptempo song ‘Love Kills’. The song was written by Iain James Farquharson (co-composer of Running Scared, the 2011 winning song of ESC), Andreas Anastasiou (the composer of the 2011 Cypriotic entry) and finnish Juka Immonen.
The song got an overwelming 56% of the televoting votes, leaving the other two songs ‘Reste-toi’ and ‘Be Heroes’ far behind. Also the professional jury , with amongst the head of delegation of Flemish Broadcaster VRT, Maarten Verhaeghen, chose for ‘Love kills’.
During the 2 and half hour show many Eurovision songs were performed by Roberto and some of his colleagues from the first season of the Voice of Belgium, the french edition (la voix de belgique). Amongst ‘Fairytale’ from Alexander Rybak which is Roberto’s all time favourite Eurovision song. Roberto expressed in the past his appreciation to Rybak so we might suspect that both singers might be meeting up the coming months somehow!
The song will get a final production to get it more powerful and the team will be working very hard on the stage act and on the pronounciation of Roberto’s english. There is no doubt this will grow in the coming months and who knows Belgium might another Tom Dice effect as we all know that the reactions back in 2010 were rather cold and negative at the presentation of the song.
The oikotimes.com team will present shortly an exclusive video-interview with Roberto being the only foreign media present at the Belgian national selection. In the meanwhile enjoy some exclusive photos and footage! Stay tuned!
