PORTUGAL – Portuguese national broadcaster is about to reveal information about their national selection, Festival da Canção, through which (and under a new format) the country will decide its entry and artist for Kyiv’s Eurovision Song Contest edition. It seems that RTP is working on a new format of the show. But there are also information reaching local fan sites that there might be an announcement of the song and representative for Portugal sooner than what we might expect (meaning there will be internal selection) leaving The Voice Portugal and Festival da Canção out.
SWEDEN – Christer Björkman spoke recently about the potential back up plans of the EBU regarding the Kyiv Eurovision Song Contest edition. He said that he is not aware of something specific but he is sure that EBU has a back up plan for hosting the event in case Ukraine fails to comply with organising the event. He also said that Stockholm is not the back up host city as there is a specific procedure of how this will be done as EBU’s Reference Group has to decide based on available bidding (which anyway is rumoured to be Russia, Germany and Sweden) and he also expressed concerns saying that Kyiv is not 100% sure that will host the event so let’s wait and see.
