EUROPOPEAN BROADCASTING UNION – It was just announced and confirmed that Communications Coordinator at EBU / EUROVISION and chief editor of http://www.eurovision.tv, Mr Jarmo Siim resigned from his post for ethical reasons upon the alleged scandal emerged on late May in Vienna.
Aftonbladet newspaper reported and confronted Mr Siim over an alleged message he sent to a journalist calling him to keep attacking the Swedish entry. Despite initial denial of the information by him and EBU’s call as a fabricated message the newspaper managed to provide video and technical proves that the message was indeed sent by him.
EBU now calls for a further investigation in which the organisation and its contracted company Wow Works will be included while the newspaper and the source demand an independent investigation by an independent authority such as Price Waterhouse Coopers who handles the transparency of the contest anyway.
The newspaper confirms that SVT demanded an answer by the Reference Group meeting on June 18th and the drama will go on. For the history Mr Siim was the beloved liaison of EBU for all journalists and he always made us feel like home and as a family despite the professional boundaries separating us. His statement on Facebook is not published by oikotimes.com respecting his wish not to be reproduced by any media.
The oikotimes.com team would like to thank him for all his services and support all over the years and wish him all the best for his future plans.
