SAN MARINO – For those who follow closely oikotimes, they would remember that the only time we fully supported San Marino was in 2011 when Senit (Senhit) represented the Italian micro-state. It was a happy surprise to see her back in the track for Eurovision 2020 but when we heard the song FREAKY, we truly thought that San Marino now stands a great chance for a top-five in the Grand Final. Yes, don’t laugh.
We all know that San Marino usually becomes the annual Eurovision joke among the fandom but this is the very first time that an actual modern and well-structured song submitted to Eurovision. Furthermore, for the first time, the San Marino representative is a person who can actually sing! Therefore it was no surprise when OIKOPANEL 2020 rated this song high enough, reaching the 8th place in our team and colleagues voting.
Now Senhit surprised us happily with another goody for us. She uploaded the video where the Budapest Art Orchestra records the FREAKY version. It sounds absolutely stunning and makes us missing it more and more. No matter what this song would have been the party song in every club during the Eurovision weeks. SMRTV must be smart and get Senhit back to Eurovision 2021 with another great disco-pop song and make us all vote for it. They can do it (if they truly want to).
Senhit began her career playing leading roles in successful musicals throughout Europe: The Lion King in Germany, Hair in Switzerland, Fame and Il Grande Campione with Massimo Ranieri in Italy. In 2009, she performed the single No More in San Siro Stadium in Milan in front of 60.000 people for the charity event Amiche per l’Abruzzo. After opening the national tour of Zucchero, Francesco Renga and Stadio, Senhit took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 in Dusseldorf, representing the Republic of San Marino with the song Stand By.
In 2016, Senhit travelled all over Europe for a tour of the most popular clubs: she sang in Milan, Amsterdam, Paris, Manchester, Berlin and London. One year later she released the EP Hey Buddy and her single, Something on your Mind, reached the Top 5 in the UK Commercial Pop Club Chart. In 2019 Senhit released two new singles in Italian, one also released in English, the videos for which were both directed by Luca Tommassini.
Senhit recently acted as a jury member for the Italian TV show All Together Now. Freaky! was chosen by European fans in a digital battle between it and the song Obsessed.
