Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankoylov will represent Bulgaria again in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. The information is now confirmed by Bulgarian national broadcaster BNT.
The choice made internally with BNT asking the opinion of music experts. The decision to re-send a successful former participant is common in Serbia, Greece and other countries therefore BNT also thought to follow the same recipe. BNT also conducted and informal poll amongst local fans and international eurofans. They all said that a dynamic ethno-pop dance song would be ideal for Bulgaria this year. Three songs will be presented on February 17 and on March 3rd there will be a song selection show.
THE OIKOTIMES STORY ON JANUARY 31
Bulgarian newspaper 23chasa reports that Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankoulov will represent (again) Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. In 2007 the duo came 5th in the Eurovision Song Contest and they could be a perfect choice for the country. The official announcement is expected on February 10th according to BNT press release. There will be a national final on March 3rd where the chosen artist will perform three songs. The decision will be made by jury and televoting.
BNT PRESS RELEASE EXTRACT
Bulgarian National Television is to hold an internal selection process to choose an artist (solo singer, duet, or group) by forming a committee including producers from BNT1โs Programme Directorate, who have the required musical and professional previous experience in holding the contest. The committeeโs choice of artist will be announced publicly by February 10 2013. The artist chosen will have the opportunity to propose an initial selection of up to 5 (five) songs that comply with the contestโs rules. The committee will listen to the songs and choose 3 (three) of them.
