BULGARIA – A total of six songs have been shortlisted by Bulgarian broadcaster BNT to take part in the country’s Eurovision national selection. The songs will now be ranked in two phases.
The first will include a group of panelists reviewing each song and giving their initial reactions to each entry. Then, all the songs will be performed one after the other where the panelists will again give their feedback, including ways in which the songs can be improved.
The jurors will then rank the six songs. The second phase will include a second batch of panelists made up of key groups that follow the Eurovision Song Contest. The panelists will give one-on-one instant feedback to the singers. None of the panelists will know the other.
All songs competing in this year’s Bulgarian national selection are in English (with exception to one which includes several words in Bulgarian). Three of the songs are performed by male singers and the other three by females.
In a tweet, BNT said, “Almost all the songs are in line with current trends. The ones that are not are extremely catchy”. Some of the characteristics of the songs are listed below:
Song one: modern, party, r&b, strong beat, club
Song two: fairytale, high vocals, Eurovision-style, key change, mid-tempo
Song three: modern, pop-ballad, dark, strong / meaningful lyrics
Song four: rock, more rock, even more rock, slight mix with traditional music
Song five: modern, mid-tempo, strong beat, very strong chorus
Song six: dance, summer feeling, party, up-tempo
