UKRAINE – Ukrainian singer Ruslana gave an interview to the show Big Picture and Niki Lymperaki, through the shelter where she is. Ruslana describes in all tones the tragedy that her country is experiencing and in a characteristic way conveys the shock that all Ukrainian citizens are experiencing.
“The situation is dire. I have never been so scared for everyone in Ukraine, but also for all the people around the world. We have never seen such a war. Bombs, rockets, tanks, lots of lies and misinformation, through the internet and social media. “We are watching confused, we are shocked,” she said.
In a strong tone, Ruslana slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him a “liar” and a “terrorist.”
“Ukraine is an independent and free country, but Putin ignores it. His message that Ukraine is part of Russia is not true. It is a lie, it is not true. We have existed for 30 years as an independent country. It is time to say “no to war”. Only peace, we choose light, we choose peace. We do not want war. Stop killing my country and my people. Putin’s plan is terrible. To show the world that Ukraine is nothing. He wants to build a world just for Russia. He is a dangerous terrorist. Putin was terrorizing the Russians before us. The situation in Kyiv is tragic. We are facing a horrible military force from Putin and we do not know what is dawning on us. Putin is trying to kill Kyiv. “I want to tell Putin you are a terrorist, leave my country.”
The situation in Kyiv, as he says, is marginal, as for many days civilians are in underground shelters while there is general anxiety, misery and anxiety even for the provision of basic needs such as food.
“People are now living in basements, in shelters in recent days. What will happen to the children? What will happen to the elderly? They can not eat, they can not sleep. I’m not with my family, I do not know if I have a home at the moment or not and I ask you to become one with us peacekeepers. Help, talk, but help a little. Please do not ignore us. I do not think of myself. “I use my voice and my name to do everything I can to stop Putin’s war.”

JAMALA
Like so many Ukrainians, Jamala, the country’s representative at Eurovision 2016, was forced to leave the country after the Russian invasion. The singer and her children are now in a safe place in Istanbul. She has made several moving posts in recent days as she and her children cross the border into Romania to escape the ravages of war.
Jamala spoke to the Israeli radio and television once, KAN about all the stormy developments, which are breathtaking. Among all this, he answered about the exclusion of Russia from Eurovision, even though he believes that this is something important.
Do you think that was one of the goals?
I do not know. I told you. There is no trust in anything because I was at home and I did not know we were in this situation. I left my husband and [his father]. Did they want to stay? They help mothers and children cross the borders.
What do you think about the decision to exclude Russia from Eurovision?
I think it is the right decision. In general, any protest is good. In this case, Eurovision is a major international competition. Surely something will make sense to them. I thank Eurovision for this decision.
What are your expectations from the international community?
I expect the international community not to be indifferent.
