CYPRUS – Cypriot national broadcaster which cancelled the national selection for thee artist who will represent the country in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, started a marathon of trying to approach and internally select an established artist from the Greek market. Although Helena Paparizou and Tamta denied the invitation to perform the song of the also internally selected composer, Alex Papaconstantinou, CyBC reached an agreement with the ultimate host pop icon.
Alex Papaconstantinou is reportedly back to Athens recording his song with another established singer. The name of thee singer is going to cause a big shake in Europe as it is Eleni Foureira!
It is widely known that for years now Eleni Foureira is trying to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest but she was always got a negative answer despite submitting great songs and summer hits. After all all of here stage performances at the MAD VMA since 2011 are always anticipated and topping the YouTube views.
Eleni Foureira has also covered the 2015 Israeli entry Golden Boy and collaborated with that song’s author into a Eurovision bid for Greece titled “Ti Koitas” which was rejected by ERT.
Some claim that ERT is rejecting Eleni due to her Albanian descent but it seems that Cyprus is beyond this level and approached the singer again. It seems also that Eleni and Alex Papaconstantinou are recording the song in the studio to finalise the decision of whether Eleni will fly the flag for Cyprus in Lisbon!
