CYPRUS – Cypriot national broadcaster is about to announce Alex Papakonstantinou as the composer of the 2018 Eurovision entry, the performance of which will come out of a marathon selection in which new talents are invited to participate. It will be the third time CyBC selects the composer internally.
Haris Savvas will once again be responsible for the stage presentation of the Cypriot entry, hopefully with something more original than Gravity for which the Russian media accused the Cypriot stage director for direct plagiarism.
Of course CyBC will keep close ties with Sweden as Christer Björkman is said to have agreed to be once again in the national jury just like in the 2015 national selection.
Alexander “Alex” Papaconstantinou, is a Swedish songwriter and music producer of Greek origin. He has since joined RedOne’s production and 2101 songs writing team and co-wrote and co-produced the Khaled album C’est la vie,. Along with Adam Baptiste, he has also been credited as a featured artist under the name “The WAV.s”. His sister is television presenter Ritza Papaconstantinou.
