CYPRUS – Well things don’t turn well especially for a hot in demand artist like Tamta. While Greece is about to have their own X-Factor edition again, a show which Tamta loves, the Eurovision obligations are a big obstacle for her to be a jury member in the show. X-Factor is a show which Tamta loves a lot and participated in past editions both in Greece and Georgia. Tamta is withdrawn from the show in order to safely prepare and work hard for Tel Aviv.
In the meantime, last week CyBC aired a very powerful and emotional interview with Tamta in which we learned in details about her forced wedding when she was 14 and her early years in Athens living in a basement. For those who might believe that now Tamta is enjoying living in luxury, we can assure you that her life lessons keep her modest and ground to earth despite her relationship with (probably) one of the richest and most influential man in Greece.
In 2004, while working as a housekeeper in Athens, one of the families for whom Goduadze worked for recommended that she audition for Super Idol, in order to receive a residence permit. She entered the competition, and subsequently became a finalist. Goduadze went on to place as the show’s runner-up, behind winner Stavros Konstantinou. Following her appearance on Super Idol, Goduadze was signed to Greek record label Minos EMI to begin a music career. Her debut studio album Tamta, was later released in 2006. In January 2007, Hellenic Radio and Television (ERT), announced Goduadze’s participation in the Greek national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, competing with the song “With Love”. Despite only placing third in the competition, “With Love” still went on to become a widely successful song in Greece, peaking at number-two on the Greek singles chart. Her second studio album Agapise me was later released on 16 May 2007.
In June 2008, Goduadze stated in an interview that she would like to represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. Rumours also stated that the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) had been in contact with her since May of that year. In response, Greek media outlets also demanded that ERT choose Goduadze to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, following suspicions of favoritism from Eastern Bloc countries in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 where Kalomira finished in third place. The rumours ultimately did not materialize and ERT chose Sakis Rouvas for the 2009 Contest.
In early 2009, Goduadze released the single “Koita me” to radios as the first single from her upcoming album, which was released in March 2010. The music video directed by Konstantinos Rigos. Three tracks of the upcoming album were produced with the help of students in the music department of the University of Westminster in London; they were chosen from a pool of 50 songs. Stereo Mike, who is a professor at the University, also had a role in the production of the album. For the winter 2009-10 season Tamta is performing with Sakis Rouvas at The S Club. She also released a new dance single called “Tharros I Alitheia” featuring Sakis Rouvas. Goduadze became a mentor on X Factor Georgia in 2014 for its first and second series, and later became a mentor on The X Factor Greece in 2016 for its fourth and fifth series.
