USA – Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga actor Dan Stevens, in an interview shortly after the film’s release, was asked if the fictional character he plays, Alexander Lemtov, is inspired by a real artist.
The popular actor does not hesitate to reveal that his role has been inspired by the Russian superstar, Philipp Kirkorov!
Alexander Lemtov is the Russian representative in the competition and an opponent of the Fire Saga. He is very rich, eccentric in his appearance, with a special sense of humour, very successful and appears as the big favourite.
Dan Stevens says: My role is inspired by a Russian singer named Philipp Kirkorov, who represents opera-pop music, with some fancy clothes and costumes and is quite reminiscent of George Michael.
DID YOU KNOW?
While Dan does have a great singing voice, he does not use his own in the movie. He confirmed to Attitude that the coronavirus pandemic actually prevented him from singing in the film.
“They stuck with a talented Swedish baritone,” Dan told the magazine. It seems the studio versions of the songs weren’t recorded until the last few months, so he was unable to provide his own vocals. The voice was provided by Erik Mjönes.
Still, Dan says it was incredible to play Alexander Lemtov in the movie and perform in front of fans. He said, “Recreating the final, with the fans and backing dancers in lame pants… incredible. I’ve never played Glastonbury, but it came close.”
