The Danish Radio decision on host city, venue and slogan brought some reactions by the regional politicians but it seems that the international reactions were more than positive. It was also positive from various Danish Eurostars as eurovision.tv and DR reported today.
Birthe Kjær (Denmark 1989)
“Gosh! How exciting and different. But I think that it’s good that Copenhagen will be the host city for many reasons”, says Birthe Kjær, who came third for Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1989 with Vi maler byen rød. “We have had many good Danish finals in Jutland but it is good that we can draw on Sweden for hotels etc. For the biggest shows I believe that Copenhagen in so many ways in the best choice”, notes Birthe Kjær.
Emmelie de Forest (Denmark 2013)
“It’s really exciting that it will take place at B&W Hallerne! It is a very different location that offers the opportunity for creative innovation. I am really looking forward to see what DR can make of it”, says Emmelie. She also loves the slogan that DR has chosen to accompany the 2014 show. It is both modern with the use of a so-called hashtag before the words Join Us and beautiful in its message, says the singer. “It is really a beautiful and inclusive tagline #JoinUs. The Eurovision Song Contest is a party for everyone”.
Søren Poppe (Denmark 2001)
“It’s fantastic! Copenhagen is the capital and maybe the city that has most to offer, and then there is innovation compared to what has been done before. It (Eurovision) will get its own little country in our country and I think that is really well thought out”, says Søren Poppe.
