SAN MARINO – Emma Sandström from Finland is the first wildcard for the San Marino’s national final. She got today the first of the ten spots for the national final. That was the outcome of the fan clubs voting who chosen the winner among 70 candidates. Emma is known from her 2017 UMK participation ending up as runner up to Norma John who eventually represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest. Through her YouTube channel Emma also got the fans to help her choose her potential Eurovision entry for San Marino selection. Franklin Calleja, from Malta and Sada Vidoo from Finland ranked as second and third respectively in the fan voting. For the next two wildcard selections there will be the following process: one wildcard gathering the most web votes and one by SMRTV which will also be a candidate from San Marino.

RUSSIA – Philip Kirkorov confirmed today through the social media his intention to enter the national selection of a friendly country (as he called it) alongside the Dream Team, Dimitris Kontopoulos and Focus Evangelinos. Immediately the fan sites claimed that this country is Belarus, but we think that it’s not. The country will be revealed in due time. Kirkorov and the Dream Team have penned the Eurovision entries for five countries in total in the history of the recent Eurovision Song Contest editions and with remarkable rankings in almost all of their efforts. Belarus speculation risen as the statement happened during an event in Minsk but we doubt it’s Belarus. All we can reveal at the moment is that negotiations are still ongoing.
AUSTRALIA – The European Broadcasting Union is happy with the commitment of Australia to the Eurovision Song Contest and submits to Reference Group the motion to accept the country as permanent member in the contest. The motion will be discussed in the meeting of January. Jon Ola Sand is confident that the motion will be granted as Australia is proven to be one of the most dedicated out of Europe nations following and supporting the contest. Until today Australia participates in Eurovision due to special permission by the Reference Group. Australia is a dedicated Eurovision Song Contest idea since the 80s when they aired the contest down under.
LATVIA – On December 6th at the Alfa Shopping Centre, LTV will hold a press conference to announce the participants of the 2018 Supernova, the show through which the country will decide its participation to the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
