COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – After seven years, Danish broadcaster DR will bring back regional jury voting in its national selection Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Jan Storage Lundme, DRโs entertainment manager, says the reintroduction of juries will make the national selection more exciting and fun, but will also support Denmarkโs diversity.
Furthermore, Lundme says the entire selection process and its concept has been strengthened in order for the country to send the best possible entry to Vienna. There are a total of five Danish regions. In previous selections, the public vote was separated into various regions, while the jury vote was unified.
Now the tables will turn with the jury vote to be distributed regionally, while the public vote will be unified. There will be one juror from each region who will announce their score in live crosses after all songs are performed. The votes will be read out at special party venues, celebrating the Danish national selection.
The winner will be selected through a 50-50 split jury and public vote. The Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will be held at the Gigantium in Aalborg on February 7.
