ITALY – Diodato’s new single entitled “Un’altra estate” is available today. The singer-songwriter from Taranto, back from the success in Sanremo, wrote this song during the lockdown.
The song written by Antonio Diodato and published by Carosello Records was produced during Fase 2, in smart working, with the musicians connected remotely. Diodato describes his new song, in social media:
One of the things that impressed and intrigued me most in this lockdown period was what my window showed. Forced to stay at home, I let my gaze wander over the city landscape that glimmer painted.
I have seen the last days of winter already telling the spring that would come, while in our hearts there was a painful cold, a frost that still struggles to melt now. Nature went on despite our absence and thanks to this it regained its spaces, its scents.
I opened my window in Milan and I felt the scent of the sea. They are the jokes that make the desire to return to live. Arriving on a beach and finding yourself in front of that mysterious and powerful expanse, a dense borderland that teaches you to breathe and to confront yourself with freedom.
In my closed eyes, I took the first steps towards her, until I slowly got wrapped up in her infinite embrace. I warmed my body with slow but increasingly constant movements, aiming for the horizon, because in the end I, at that horizon, still believe in it.
“Un’altra estate” is available on all major music services, from Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes Store, Tidal and Deezer.
Diodato signed with Carosello Records in 2016 and, in January 2017, he released the album Cosa Siamo Diventati, followed by a tour. That same year, he participated in #EveryChildisMyChild – Live for Syria, a project in Vulci organized Italian artists to support the construction of a school in Syria.
The single Cretino Che Sei marked a stylistic turning point in Diodato’s career. In December 2017 he won the Critic’s Choice at the 68th Sanremo Festival with Roy Paci and the song Adesso. He was again back on the Ariston stage as a guest of Ghemon in 2019 performing Rose Viola with the Calibro 35. He then inaugurated a new phase of his musical career with the songs Il Mercante, Non Ti Amo Più and Che Vita Meravigliosa, which became the soundtrack to Ferzan Ozpetek’s new movie La Dea Fortuna.
Diodato won the 70th Sanremo Festival with the song Fai Rumore, a song that has now topped the Italian charts. On Monday 24 February, the Mayor and the Council of Taranto conferred the Civic Merit award to Diodato for paying homage to his city with his Eurovision entry.
