ODENSE, DENMARK – DR announced today that the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014 final will take place at the Arena Fyn in Odense on March 8th. It’s Denmark 3rd biggest city and 10 acts will compete for a ticket to Copenhagen’s Eurovision final next May.
A series of parties are set for the city of Odense which will celebrate the 2014 edition of DMGP: “The eyes of the world will be on Denmark as we will host the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. As such the Danish national final, Melodi Grand Prix, is going to be something quite special this time. We know that Odense can pull off this huge task and provide the setting for a super amazing show and a massive party for everyone”, says DR’s Director of Entertainment, Rasmus Ladefoged.
The last time Dansk Melodi Grand Prix was held on Funen was in 1993 when Tommy Seebach won the right to fly the Danish flag in Millstreet with the song Under stjernerne pรฅ himlen. Back then the event was held at the Odense Kongrescenter.
Submissions for DMGP 2014 due on October 7th and a jury will select 6 entries for the final. DR will invite four more Danish acts to be added in the line up as wildcards. A press conference will take place in Odense on October 1st in the noon (13:00 CET).
