Australian public broadcaster SBS has summed up its 2012 coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest as a big success. Since 2009, the channel has been sending its own commentators to Eurovision and has contributed greatly to the promotion of the contest in the land down under.
This year SBS saw the highest ratings for the semi finals since the system was introduced in 2004. The final was the second most watched, after the 2003 contest, with a total of 2.77 million people tuning in for the coverage on SBS One.
SBS Online also played a part in the networkโs Eurovision coverage with 134.000 unique visits. Viewers were given the chance to vote online for their favourite singers with Loreen winning the with 72.186 votes.
In its โupfrontsโ for 2013 SBS has already confirmed it will screen the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. Due to time differences, the shows are delayed by one day,
