BUCHAREST, ROMANIA – MIHAI, who finished fifth at the Romanian national selection with the song “Paradiso”, has vowed never to return to the contest, blaming the jury for the result.
Initially, the singer congratulated the winner and Romania’s Eurovision representative Ovidiu in a Facebook post, but later vented his frustrations to the press.
“I don’t know why the jury didn’t help me. They must be envious. Cezar Ouatu wouldn’t like me to go to Eurovision. Perhaps he wants to do it. Zoli [Toth] from Sistem wouldn’t like it if I bettered his third place result with Luminita [Anghel]. Randi […] complained that my song isn’t modern, but Ovidiu’s entry isn’t modern either. It’s an old type of rock, which doesn’t mean he is no good nor that the song is not beautiful. But it sounds old, so [Randi’s] argument doesn’t stand. “Paradisio” could have brought us victory in Sweden. I am sorry that the viewers were influenced by the jury, which prevented them from voting for me”, he said.
