GREECE – EBU often published the “HOW TO EUROVISION” for each country’s history in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Now it was Greece’s time. The problem is that the video presentation actually mocks and ridicules the relation between Greece and Cyprus, an unprecedented offence made for no other country.
During the video, you can see (besides the Greek participations since 1974 and of course the winning entry in 2005, MY NUMBER ONE) that the 12 points from Cyprus are mocked by the EBU video producers, something they did for no other country, escalating with the 12 points of Cyprus to Greece in 1998 which saved Greece from their first-ever null points scoring and emphasizes in the booing in the venues during the Cypriot points.
🇬🇷 Do you think the EBU video offends Greece?

While Denmark does the same with Iceland, but so do the other Nordic countries, as do Poland and Ukraine, Estonia and Latvia, Belarus and Russia, as well as the countries of the former Yugoslavia, there was never a mention or reference in their respective videos.
It is expected (if ERT wakes up) to have a reaction. It should be appropriate for the Greek national broadcaster to request or even to demand the removal of the video.
But the big question is: Does ERT have the guts to do so?
On a further update, EBU has removed the timecode which included the ironic mention of Cyprus 12 points saving Greece all the time along with the booing from the venues. It was also mentioned in the social media comments, that weirdly EBU didn’t mention at all the 2006 Anna Vissi moment when Greece held the Eurovision edition! Some sources claim that the removal of the footage was due to ERT reactions. But we at oikotimes have no official confirmation of it. It could have happened this way but unless ERT goes public and say so, we have our doubts. After all we are talking about… ERT!
