EDITORIAL – With the incident of the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest’s Turkish entry, which exceeded the live performance by 11 seconds and got a BBC warning for disqualification within Birmingham, we spotted an interesting fan-made video, presenting all the Eurovision entries that breached the 3-minute rules.
SOMEHOW THEY ALL DID IT
The video presents the Turkish incident and some of the songs that breached the rule. In total, the fan spotted 104 out 752 entries between 1960-1998.
THE BIG CHANGE
We remind you that the 3-minutes-rule has been implemented in the 1960 Eurovision Song Contest due to time constraints and to avoid extremely long entries such as Italy’s song from 1957 which was 5 minutes 9 seconds long.
EUROVISION 2021 RULE
The maximum duration of each song is three minutes. Any song/performance which is longer may be disqualified by the EBU Permanent Services after consultation with the Reference Group.
