PARIS, FRANCE – In the middle of turmoil, France isn’t forgetting Eurovision and this is mainly thanks to new Head of Delegation Edoardo Grassi. The young man is actually a true Eurovision fan, and his twitter page is just filled with Eurovision enthusiasm. Let’s bet that his nomination will change the way FranceTélévisions considers our favourite TV show. It seems that things are starting to change indeed.
First of all, and for the very first time, FTV has decided to broadcast both semi-finals of the contest next May. So far, only the semi-final French viewers were supposed to vote in was broadcast, and on some rather anonymous channel France Ô (a channel devoted to oversea’s matters..?). On May 10th and May 12th, France 4 (the channel devoted to youngsters mainly) will cover the even live from Stockholm, hence reaching a wider audience.
Second, Mr Grassi flew to Sofia last week as an observer of the event. Does it mean that France is interested in taking part to Junior Eurovision again? OUI. Does it mean that France will be in Malta? NOT SURE YET. But at least, that’s a move forward.
Now, Mr Grassi and Nathalie André (head of entertainment) just have to choose a decent entry for Stockholm and keep feeding the fire of Eurovision inside FranceTélévisions’ walls. But that sounds rather promising so far. On behalf of French Eurofans and oikotimes.com, let’s just say “Merci Monsieur Grassi!”.
DID YOU KNOW?
Last year, France was represented by Lisa Angell, but despite the great voice and scenography, the lady ended up second to last… Nevertheless, her dramatic ballad “N’oubliez Pas” (Do not forget), has taken a new resonance today with what’s happening in my beautiful country.
