INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Koit Toome is an Estonian singer and musical actor. In late 1994, a highly successful pop duo Code One, consisting of Koit Toome and Sirli Hiius was formed by the producer Mikk Targo. A long run of top hits in Estonian music charts were to follow until 1998, when the duo split. In 1998, Koit Toome represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Birmingham. He finished 12th with 36 points with the song “Mere lapsed”. The same year he recorded his debut solo album of mostly self-penned material on it. Toome has released five albums all together, both as a solo artist and with Code One. In 2007 he won Tantsud tähtedega (Dancing with the Stars) with Kertu Tänav. In March 2010, he released Koit Toome first studio album, named “Kaugele siit” (“Far from here”). Koit Toome has also embarked on a voice acting career, dubbing animated films. He provided the Estonian voice for Lightning McQueen in the Disney movie Cars among others. In 2016, Koit Toome is talking part in Eesti Laul in a duet with Laura Põldvere to represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev.
Laura Põldvere sometimes known professionally as simply Laura, is an Estonian singer. She represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 as part of the girl group Suntribe and has taken part in the Estonian preselection numerous times since, singing songs written by Sven Lõhmus. Laura started her career in 2005, when she was participating in Eurolaul 2005 with the song “Moonwalk”. “Moonwalk” came second, but Laura won the contest as the member of the girl group Suntribe. Suntribe represented Estonia in Eurovision Song Contest 2005. Laura also took part at “Eurolaul 2007” for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, her entry “Sunflowers” came third. In September 2007, Laura released her debut album “Muusa” and started studies in Berklee College, Boston U.S., putting her music career on hold. In 2009, she was back by entering the new format Eesti Laul as a solo singer in hopes of representing Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, her entry “Destiny” came third. In November, 2011, Laura released her first compilation album “Sädemeid taevast”, which consisted of all her singles since 2005 to 2011 as well as a track from her second studio album “Ultra”. Laura once again attempted to represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, entering Eesti Laul with the song “Supersonic”. It placed second in the Superfinal. In Eesti Laul 2017, she is competing in a duet with Koit Toome, with the song “Verona”. They won and they will represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev, Ukraine.
