VIENNA, AUSTRIA – Little by little, this year’s host broadcaster ORF is revealing it’s plan for Eurovision 2015. Just like a countdown to May, details are regularly disclosed about the organization in the Austrian capital city.
The 2015 Eurovillage will be at the core of the city, on probably one of the most popular square: Rathausplatz! Situated just in front of the magnificent city hall, this place is where big events usually take place in Vienna (open-air concerts, summer cinema, markets…) and this year will be no exception.
From May 17th (official inaugural day with the opening reception inside the City Hall) to May 23rd, Eurofans from all over the continent will be able to enjoy their Eurovision experience there! With live concerts, a Eurofan Zone, shops, gigs, events, Rathausplatz will be busier than even during the 2nd Eurovision week.
For many reason, ORF’s choice is definitely a wise one:
- Rathauspatz is one of the major landmark of Vienna’s city centre
- The City hall Square is no stranger to Eurovision. Indeed, the Eurovision Young Musicians has been hosted there, no less than 4 times between 2006 and 2012.
- It will be just a 30-minute walk from Eurovillage to the arena, and 15 minutes with public transport (tramway, underground and bus)! (what a change!)
Things are getting really exciting now. And our next question (and every Eurofan’s one) is: where will the Euroclub be?
The Austrian plan may seem rather similar to the Danish one last year. Let’s just hope than Eurovillage this year will be more appealing and popular…
