SWITZERLAND – New video from the competition has been discovered in the archives of Swiss broadcaster RSI and can be accessed at this link. The clip is from the RSI collection and was shot by Vincenzo Vicari. This new clip, which is quiet, reveals 40 seconds of crowd responses to the concerts in Lugano.
Concurrently with the discovery of new film, additional images of the performances of Dutch contestants Jetty Paerl and Corry Brokken were discovered. According to Eurovision Artists, an extra 275 images from the contest’s preparations and performance have been discovered, all captured by Swiss photographer Vincenzo Vicari, and will be presented in a forthcoming magazine.
Recently, new footage appeared as you can see in this post, with Lys Assia performing her winning entry but stopping the orchestra because she missed the lyrics.
Furthermore, a Lugano-based photographer named Vincenzo Vicari (1911-2007) took some pictures from the rehearsals and the final night.
From the rare photos presented we notice that already since its establishment, the contest gave each performance a unique staging.
Will there be more revelations of 1956 materials? We no nothing for now…
