UKRAINE – Odessa regional media battle on who’s right about information given yesterday that the city was chosen to host the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest and the announcement will take place on September 5th by the Minister of Culture. Other information said already that the announcement will take place by the Prime Minister on early September. Already 4 times the announcement postponed with official reason been the detailed inspection of the three (?) bidding proposals. Though somehow official excluded Dnipro but without an official announcement!
Can it get more hilarious? Yes it can. Odessa media Timer claims that information spread that Odessa chosen to host the event is false sourcing government information. There will be an organising committee meeting tomorrow and therefore we expect something to happen but not an official announcement. Ukrainian media KP says that government officials deny any rumour spread and that the announcement will take place next week without specifying the exact day and time.
In the meantime in the wonderful Dnipro, the officials are not officially aware that their bid is out of the race although recently city officials said to German news broadcaster DW that there is no time for them to host the event. Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov says that this is not funny anymore and the delay makes hosting of the event unrealistic now but he wished Kyiv and Odessa the very best of luck but he confirmed that he is against Kyiv’s bid.
… and the drama goes on! stay tuned for the next episode of the Ukranian Days of Our Lives soon!
