FINLAND – You read it right and it’s not a spell mistake this time. Although the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is yet to take place this May, there is a country confirming its participation to the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest: Finland.
Immediately after the end of the 2017 UMK final, YLE published the preliminary submissions page for the 2018 edition saying that the winner of the UMK 2018 will represent the country in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
In the preliminary phase you can apply either as a singer or composer by February 27th. There will be another submission period for singer and song in autumn.
Nationality restrictions remain the same as they are now. Lead singer(s) and at least one of the songwriters have to be Finnish citizens or reside in Finland. You can find the information here.
