THE NETHERLANDS – It seems that the government has found a solution for financing the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest according to DE TELEGRAAF. The proposed solution was to use state money directly instead of using money coming from the taxes.
Eurovision 2020 budget is estimated to cost 26.5 million Euros. EBU and its members are going to contribute with 9.6 million Euros, NPO with 2.5 million Euros and AVROTROS with 2 million Euros.
The government is willing to cover the gap of 12.4 million Euros directly from the state budget. The money sees to be available from state profits which are saved aside for special occasions and the government seems willing to give them.
The overall sentiment though within the government is that NPO and AVROTROS should have contributed more than they announced but since this money is from state profits and not from taxes, the issue seems to have appeased the cabinet members.
