ITALY – Some interesting news comes from Italy and concerns the proposed press center for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. This news will surely displease the press and media outlet representatives and it is added in the unexplained delay of the host city announcement.
THE PRESS CENTER
According to an Italian publication, although there is no confirmation besides that web post, Bologna was the top choice until recently but Torino entered the game of favorites the last few days.
The interesting thing from this post is that it claims the Palavela arena will function as the press center. The surprise is that the venue is within a distance of 9 minutes by car from the main Eurovision venue. Is this how EBU will avoid the fans messing with the main arena and the way to get rid of us from their feet? Is it the most stupid RAI decision (if confirmed) because they don’t know how to organize an event like Eurovision, which is totally associated to the fans, the fan press, and the media outlets?
We only hope the publication is not confirmed… as it will mean complete disaster for the press conferences!
THE HOST CITY ANNOUNCEMENT
The pizza post by EBU brought the anticipation for an imminent announcement that didn’t happen. Yesterday EBU asked the fans to subscribe to a newsletter with a post of “waiting” mode for the host city announcement in a way leaving the impression that even the Geneva heads are bored of waiting…
There was recently some inside information reaching us. None of them can really be confirmed besides the fact that the source sounds extremely secure.
The first information claims that EBU and RAI try to work out the “Swedish” factor in the entire production. RAI wants to implement a totally Italian production and produce its own aesthetics.
The second piece of information is that RAI wants to implement a Sanremo Festival-style in the idea behind the Eurovision 2022 concept, something might seem nice for the Italians (if so) but not sure it can work for an international audience and it seems (according to unofficial information) that EBU is not very favorable of this prospect.
In any case, we cannot confirm if there is a dispute between RAI and EBU but we can confirm (from that safe source) that the planning so far seems chaotic even for Italian themselves! The negative in all that is that even plunged in their own chaos, RAI doesn’t even wanna listen for help in the overall planning…
We hope EBU to at least, give us an explanation for the delay and a timetable for the announcement as October is just 7 days away and it seems that the entire project is already behind schedule!
