TURIN, ITALY – The Venaria Reale, one of the symbols of Turin’s rich royal history, welcomed the 40 acts taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with a 200-metre-long ‘Turquoise Carpet’.

Built-in 1675, the Venaria Reale, known for its gorgeous architecture and sumptuous gardens, was one of the residences of the Royal House of Savoy. It was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997.
We have selected four categories of outfits that impressed us in a good or in a not so good way. You do realise that those not included, didn’t even catch our interest.

The event was hosted by Gabriele Corsi, Mario Acampa and Carolina Di Domenico while artists and their accompanying delegations were brought inside to the majestic Galleria Grande of the Reggia, where they will be welcomed by the Mayor of Turin Stefano Lorusso, by the Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor Martin รsterdahl, and by Executive Producers Simona Martorelli and Claudio Fasulo.
The simplicity, the lack of extravaganza and limos and the addition of the Italian elegance and romanticism made this event exquisite and what the viewers expected from Italy. The scenery was amazing: a magnificent setting of a palace, the amazing gardens and the optical result were simply amazing.

The amazing weather with the bright sun turned after an hour and a half to a small rain and a plan B for the carpet production took effect.

The artists took the catwalk and felt it all the way. Highlights of the Turquoise carpet were the outfits of:
- Malta was wearing an amazingly sexy white gown resembling the Greek goddess Aphrodite.
- Azerbaijan’s Nadir had a smart jacket where the sleeves were left aside while his arms were out of the jacket from extra openings.
- Australia’s Sheldon Riley was definitely wearing what his parents never allowed him to. In total white outfit and a cape full of white feathers.
- Latvia’s Citi Zฤni were wearing various outfits in colours and styles but they assured us they were all organic even their underwear.
- San Marino’s Achille Lauro is glad to talk to our presenters about his performance in the Eurovision Song Contest. As predicted, he’s given it much consideration.
- Kalush Orchestra, from Ukraine, proudly wears a piece of their homeland in their clothing. They feel it’s more necessary than ever to fly the Ukrainian flag.
- The Rasmus are excited for Thursday’s Second Semi-Final and want Finland to start from the front. They applaud Mneskin for reviving Eurovision.
- Konstrakta, representing Serbia, stands out in her pure white outfit and beautiful red lip. The singer also explains that she came up with the song concept while walking her dog. Creativity strikes unexpectedly.
- WRS tells us that his mother and grandmother used to watch Telenovelas, which is how he learned Spanish, which he utilised in his Eurovision entry Llรกmame.
- Andromache, representing Cyprus, has fresh information. She adds that she creates many of her songs while cooking. Never mind half-baked melodies…
- The Subwoolfer wolves from Norway are awestruck by their surroundings, having never seen anything like the Venaria Reale on The Moon.
- Cornwall Jakobs from Sweden tells us she composed Hold Me Closer about a passionate relationship she had to stop for her own mental wellbeing.
- Chanel enters with a furry crimson cloak, revealing the evening’s longest (and fluffiest) train, courtesy of the Spanish diva.
- Mahmood & Blanco admit that one of the nicest parts of being at the Eurovision Song Contest is getting to perform in front of the world’s largest audience.
