ISRAEL – Noa Kirel will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023. She was chosen internally by a ten-member committee constituted by IPBC. Noa is the first Israeli delegate to be chosen domestically since 2014 and the first chosen by IPBC since the broadcaster’s inception in 2017.
The members of the selection committee debated 78 names of singers “with vast and proven experience singing in front of a big audience.” According to Gimel & Galgalatz, the list includes the names of the musicians who have had the greatest airplay in Israel, as well as contenders for Singer of the Year and Group of the Year in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

In the second round of voting, each committee member proposed two candidates from the list for further consideration. The committee discussed the artists on the select list and rated them in order of importance, with the most appropriate musician at the top of the list and so on. At the conclusion of the debate, the Broadcasting Company gave the artist placed top on the list the opportunity to represent Israel in the competition on terms specified by the corporation. Noa was the committee’s first pick, and she accepted the invitation to perform in Eurovision. According to her managers, Noa “will be pleased to represent Israel in Eurovision.”
Noa Kirel was born on April 10, 2001, in Ra’anana, Israel’s central region. Her breakthrough track “Medabrim” (Talking) was published in 2015, and she quickly followed it up with more popular singles, including her first English-language single “Drum” in 2019. Every year since 2017, she has received the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Israeli Artist. She also performed in the Miss Universe 2021 pageant, which was held in Eilat, Israel’s southernmost city.
It is unclear if Noa’s Eurovision entry will be chosen internally or whether a national final will be staged.
