BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA – BHRT was asked again if they will return to Eurovision, as it’s one of the annual summer issues we all deal with. Although the truth is the relation of BRHT and TRT the Bosnian broadcaster claims it’s all about the funding.
They are not lying actually, as the country restricted and restricted and relies on licence fee only. The country is too small for big business and budgets enough to handle such a contest although countries like San Marino prove them wrong. BHRT is repaying a debt of 2.8 million Euros loss.
“Even now, and in the years ahead, BHRT puts at its disposal its team of professionals, its production and technical capacities, but unfortunately, BHRT does not have the financial means to finance the participation of representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this most spectacular and expensive TV show in the world.”
Bosnian broadcaster says that they are also open to sponsorships but somehow this is weird info for us as we as oikotimes team know at least two cases where a complete paid project for Eurovision submitted and rejected to BHRT for unknown reasons (and it wasn’t about the song as both cases it was a modern Balkan tune).
“Only with the support of the economy, state bodies, institutions, citizens and joint investment in a product called BiHโs representative at the Eurovision Song Contest could we quickly expect BiH to return to this competition because the Eurovision Song Contest is not just a competition for the best song, the Eurovision Song Contest is much more than that.”
Turkish influence in Bosnia is huge and the truth is that if current negotiations with TRT result in Turkey’s return to the contest, will open the door for BHRT too and keep that info in mind!
