INTERNATIONAL – On May 16th a tribute show aired by Dutch broadcasters titled EUROVISION: EUROPE SHINE A LIGHT and it was aiming to compensate the fans and the public who follow the contest after the forced cancellation of the event for this year.
Despite the good efforts of the organisers and the EBU, the lack of competition resulted in poor TV ratings. If we take the official data given so far by 21 countries we can see that the show was completely ignored by the viewers in Europe and Australia.
There were lots of voices (among them San Marino state television), calling the organisers to hold at least an unofficial voting of somehow and Eurofans were tremendously disappointed by the fact that the 2020 participants were barely promoted.
One good news comes from the UK as 2020 Eurovision tribute album becomes most successful Eurovision album ever in the United Kingdom.
